Gamblers Premier Drop Two Against Crush, Now Fifth In Division


Addison, IL - The Motor City Gamblers Premier team took Game 1 of a three game series against the Chicago Crush on Thursday.


Friday and Saturday wasn't as kind as the Gamblers dropped Friday's Game 7-2 and Saturday's Game 3-2 as Motor City now resides at 5th in the Midwest East Division of the USPHL three points behind the Chicago Cougars.


Shaun Zatelli (Clinton Twnshp, MI) opening the scoring on Friday night in the second period with his 18th of the season. Zatelli was able to find the puck in the middle of the hashes and fire a goal for a 1-0 lead after a scoreless first period. The Crush took advantage of a 5-minute major penalty with a series of goals, four power play goals in total for a commanding lead before Nate Ayuyu (Warren, MI) added a goal in the third period for his 8th of the season. The goal broke a six game drought for Ayuyu.

Zatelli started the scoring again on Saturday with a short-handed goal during a Dustin Fretter (Livonia, MI) penalty that gave the Gamblers an early 1-0 lead with 5:30 left in the first period.


It was his second short handed goal of the season.


Braeden Keel earned his second goal as a Gambler in the third period to cut into the Crush lead, 3-2, with about four and a half remaining. Joseph Good (Toledo, OH) earned his first assist as a Gambler on the goal.

Motor City will look to rebound and finish off the playoff push against the Fort Wayne Spacemen this weekend in a home-and-home series starting with a game in Indiana on Friday before coming home to play the Spacemen on Sunday afternoon. All games can be found on FloHockey.
